Student TestimonialI really enjoy my psychology class and my instructor’s way of teaching. Through discussion, we are developing our critical thinking skills.

Advising and Orientation

Once you complete the Admissions process at NSCC, you will be assigned a faculty advisor in your declared major. Your faculty advisor can help you clarify academic, career, and long-term goals, and provide academic guidance through the registration process. Some departments hold group-advising sessions for informational purposes.

Find Your Advisor Online
You can find your advisor by logging on to myNSCC with your A# and password, then select the “Advising Resources” tab. In “Academic Profile” your primary academic advisor will be listed at the bottom left under “Advisors”.  Find your advisor on myNSCC

You can then go to the Campus Directory to get your advisor’s contact information. If you are a current student and do not have an advisor, please contact Records at 615-353-3218 or Admissions at 615-353-3215 and they will refer you to the appropriate department.

On-Campus Advising
If you have questions about which classes to take, your faculty advisor can answer them. When you stop by your faculty advisor’s office, a copy of his or her office schedule will be posted on the door. This posted schedule will assist you in making appointments to get these questions answered.

Student Responsibility
You are not required to talk to your faculty advisor before registering for classes; however, it is your responsibility to know which classes are required for graduation or transfer.
