Southeast Center

Since 2005, Nashville State has had two permanent facilities in Nashville: The main campus on White Bridge Road and the Southeast Center on Foster Avenue. The Southeast Center provides residents in southeast Davidson County with a variety of higher education opportunities at a convenient location. The Center is located on the campus of the former Tennessee Preparatory School at 1162 Foster Avenue, between Thompson Lane and Murfreesboro Pike, and is easily accessed from I-440, I-40, and I-24.

The Southeast Center opened for the Fall 2005 semester with an offering of thirty courses. The response to the new location that first semester was outstanding; over 100 students took advantage of the opportunity to take college classes close to home. In the two years since, student enrollment has increased more than 50% each year. Fall 2007 saw the beginning of a cooperative program with Nashville School of the Arts to offer dual enrollment classes for local high school students. Currently courses are offered for English as a Second Language, Career Advancement and Technical Certificates, General Education courses and Degree courses during the day and in the evening. Students also have the option of taking Community Education and online courses through the Center. Because students receive the same quality education and helpful student services as on the main campus, student enrollment will continue to grow. Courses and programs offered will expand each semester to fulfill the academic goals of a dynamic and diverse student population.
