Rx Tennessee

The Tennessee Board of Regents project “A Prescription for Healthcare Training in Tennessee” (RX TN) is designed to improve opportunities for Trade Act Adjustment (TAA)-eligible workers and others in healthcare related training while at the same time meet the needs of the state-wide healthcare employers and industry. TAA-workers are dislocated employees that lost their jobs as a result of the work going off-shore.

The Rx Tennessee program at Nashville State offers specific services to help students succeed in healthcare programs, including the Medical Informatics degree. Student support services include:

  • Greater access to programs that lead to employment opportunities in healthcare careers.
  • Technology and equipment to expand health sciences programs.
  • More training and skills development for healthcare careers.
  • Support services students need to complete their degrees.

Non-Credit Healthcare Certifications Preparation

Rx Tennessee Grant-Funded Non-Credit Healthcare Certifications through the Tennessee College of Applied Technology—Nashville (TCAT-Nashville)

Increase your skills in the healthcare field by enrolling in the new Rx Tennessee non-credit courses. Gain the knowledge and experience needed in order to be prepared to take your certification exam. Online aspects of coursework limits time required to come to campus.

Student Support Prescription

Student Support Prescription: Designed to serve all TAA-eligible workers and others to:

  • Prepare for and make good decisions in selecting healthcare training.
  • Be successful once they start training to complete and obtain employment.

The student support component includes:

  • Completion Coaches
  • Prior learning assessment
  • Career aptitude
  • Career exploration
  • Academic planning
  • Diagnostic skills assessment/college readiness testing and components to address deficiencies
  • Learning support remediation and supplemental instruction
  • Digital literacy

Training Prescriptions

Training Prescriptions address specific occupational training components that are currently not available or need enhancement/expansion. These components are designed to meet the needs of employers and industry in specific regions and across the state.
