Faculty Bio's

Stacy Brown
PhotoStacy Brown has been an instructor of mathematics at the Cookeville Campus of Nashville State since January 2007.  She has obtained the following degrees from Tennessee Technological University: B.S. (1989) Mathematics, M.S. (1991) Mathematics, Ph.D (1995) Mechanical Engineering and EdS (2003) Curriculum and Instruction.  She lives in Rickman with her husband Bill and daughter Katie.  She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, traveling and training the family dog Buddy.


Tim Dean
Tim DeanTim Dean is an associate professor at the Cookeville Campus. He has been teaching full time at since 1995. He teaches classes in Electrical Engineering Technology and Computer Technology. Tim received his BS (1992), MS (1995), and PhD (2004) degrees in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Tech University. He serves as the advisor for all Cookeville Computer Technology students. Tim and his wife Lisa live in Cookeville with their 4 children, Betsy, Benjamin, Christopher, and Jonathan. He enjoys teaching Sunday school at Christ's Community Church, coaching soccer, woodworking, and vegetable gardening.


Sam Garner
Born 8-4-52, Kingsport, TN.
Graduated from Isaac Litton HS 1971 Nashville, TN.
Completed requirements for A.A.S. in Electrical Engineering Technology, NSTI, 1980.
Completed requirements for B.S. in Electro-Mechanical Technology, MTSU, 1988.
1975-1980 Employed as Electrical, Electronic Technician at:
Firestone, Murfreesboro, TN.
Samsonite, LaVergne, TN.
Eisley, Nashville, Tn
1980 – Present  Associate Professor, NSTCC.


Linda Houck
Linda Houck was born and raised in San Diego, California, and moved to Cookeville in August of 2005. Linda received her Bachelor's degree in English from San Diego State University in 2000. She received her Master's degree in English from San Diego State University in 2003. Every semester, Linda co-runs and tutors for Cookeville's Writing Center. She is also assisting her director and assistant director in the SACS process. In her spare time, Linda likes to read and spend time with her family.


Jody MantleJody Mantle
Jody Mantle has been an Instructor of Mathematics at the Cookeville campus of Nashville State since 2005.  He obtained his BA from MTSU in 1994 and his MS at Vanderbilt in 1997.  He previously taught as Instructor of Mathematics at Cumberland University in Lebanon, TN for five years.  He currently resides in Livingston, TN with his wife and an assortment of cats and dogs.


Ami Massengill
Ami Massengill is a full-time English instructor at Nashville State Community College, where she began teaching as an adjunct in 2004. She received her M.A. in English from Tennessee Technological University in May 2005. In August 2005, she began teaching at NSCC full-time. She teaches a wide variety of classes, including Basic and Developmental Writing, Composition I and II, American Literature, and Modern British Literature. She enjoys teaching because it enables her to be in the discourse community of composition and literature. In her spare time, she enjoys books and travel. Backpacking through Europe each summer provides her with additional research opportunities and materials that enhance her literature courses and teaching practices.


Kelvin Norman
PhotoKelvin Norman is a full-time faculty member who began his teaching experience at Nashville State as an Adjunct Computer Technology Instructor in August 2003. He has since taught the following courses at the Cookeville campus: Windows 2000/XP Administration, Advanced Topics, System Troubleshooting, A+ Hardware, Operating Systems, Telecommunications, Help Desk Fundamentals and Digital Systems. Kelvin is a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University (M.Ed., 2006) and the U.S. Naval Academy ( B.S. ,1985). He lives in Gordonsville, TN with his wife Jackie and enjoys playing the fiddle and banjo.     


Bill Pardue

Bill PardueEducation:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering from Tennessee Tech University in 1990.

  • MBA from Tennessee Tech University in 1992.

  • Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Tennessee Tech University in 1995.

  • Coursework towards a master in engineering in Civil and Environmental Engineering from 1994 to 1996.

Work Experience:

  • Faculty and Administrator at the Cookeville Center of Nashville State Tech from 1996 to 2002.

  • General Manager at a subcontracting construction company from 2002 to 2003.

  • Instructor of mathematics and drafting at Cookeville High School from 2003 to 2004.

  • Instructor of Business Management at the Cookeville Center of Nashville State Community College from 2005 to present.
