Joe DolanJoseph W. Dolan, Ph.D., received his B.S. degree from The Ohio State University and his doctorate from Indiana University.  For the last 11 years Dr. Dolan has been an Assistant Professor at the Medical University of South Carolina.  Research activities have spanned a wide range of disciplines and have provided broad exposure to techniques and applications.  Dr. Dolan has published papers dealing with protein structure-function analysis; genetic manipulation of viruses, bacteria, and fungi; cell-to-cell communication; fungal pathogenesis; microbe-biomaterials interactions; and development of novel antimicrobial agents.  In addition to basic research traditionally associated with academic scientists, Dr. Dolan has been involved in applied research sponsored by a major foreign manufacturer of pharmaceuticals.  Teaching experience has ranged through the community college, undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels.  For the last few years, Dr. Dolan has been a co-director of a community out-reach program that provides science fair project assistance to middle and high school students.
