Faculty
Dr William Kitchen, Assistant Professor
After serving our country during Vietnam Dr. Kitchen wanted more from life than welding bridges and buildings. He decided to go to school, took his fathers advice to earn a degree that would enable him to make a living.
Nashville State Technical Institute was him first choice. He liked the faculty right away and the classes really trained him for his 1st job which the employment office at the school had gotten for him before he had graduated with AAS degree in electrical engineering.
After working for about 15 years as an electrical engineer, computer engineering technologist and a security specialist and served in management positions in most of these positions.
The opportunity for him to get a higher degree became a possibility. He started and completed a BS in Computer engineering Technology and after that earned an MS in Industrial studies& Computer Engineering Technology.
He worked as a Teaching assistant, and took a couple teaching classes on his own, to help pay his tuition in grad school. He has been teaching Electrical/ Electronic engineering technology and computer technology courses since. He started getting paid professionally in 1997, and followed with a Ph.D. in Education Administration in May 2002. Dr Kitchen also worked with two National Science Foundation funds projects, as an integral team member on the SEATEC project, and participated in writing the grant proposal and served as a principle investigator during The Case Files National Center
He is the most proud and happy though when teaching students. He is giving them something that nobody can take away from them ever. The Ability to Learn Technologies!
