NSCC offers a university parallel degree which focuses on completing the first two years of a four-year college program.  These coursework for the Associate of Science or Associate of Arts which totals 60 credit hours is comparable to the freshmen and sophomore years of study. Forty-one of these hours are general education courses and 19 hours are in the area of emphasis.

In planning the courses to be taken at NSCC, the NSCC student should do the following:

  • Decided which content area that they would like to teach such as English, Foreign Languages, Math, Science. History, etc.
  • Choose the four-year university that they plan to attend
  • Meet with their NSCC advisor to match up the courses offered at NSCC with the courses required at their future four-year university.

The Advising sheet for secondary education can assist the secondary education students in planning their classes. (See Secondary Education Advising Checklist.)
