Michael Christensen, 615-353-3379
Mike Christensen began teaching mathematics at NSCC in the fall of 2006. Prior to that, he taught at Laramie County Community College (1990-2006) and Scott Community College (1983-1990). He also taught math and coached basketball at two small junior/senior high schools in rural western Nebraska (1979-1981). He received his B.A. degree from William Jewell College (1979) and his M.S.Ed. degree from Kearney State College (1982). Mike enjoys sports, especially Nebraska Cornhusker football, and church activities.


Hamid Doust, Associate Professor (615)353-3386
Hamid Doust is an Associate Professor of Mathematics.  He has a Masters of Science in mathematics from Middle Tennessee State University and has completed additional graduate course work at the University of Kentucky. Mr.
Doust has served on many different committees since he began teaching at NSCC in 1987.  Before this, he taught at Middle Tennessee State University and the University of Kentucky.  His hobbies include hiking, playing with his dog Poochie, playing tennis and traveling.


Kwaku Forkuo-Sekyere, 615-353-3385
Mr. Forkuo-Sekyere came to Nashville State Community College in 1987 and is an Associate Professor of Mathematics in the Mathematics and Science Division.

He currently serves as the Faculty Advisor for Campus Crusade for Christ.


Eli W. Frierson, 615-353-3362
Mr. Frierson is an Associate Professor of Mathematics. His education includes a B.S., Claflin College, 1971, a M.Ed., Clemson University, 1976 and he performed additional graduate work at Memphis State University (1983, 1984) and Peabody College of Vanderbilt University (1984, 1985).


Everett House, Associate Professor, 615-353-3372
Everett House earned his B.A. in Mathematics and Economics from Southern Illinois University and his M.A. in Mathematics from the University of Cincinnati.
Mr. House is a member of the Mathematics and Sciences Division at Nashville State Technical Community College where he teaches Technical Mathematics, Calculus II, Concept of Calculus and Elementary Algebra. Mr. House enjoys playing chess, bridge and walking. He is also looking forward to retirement in the near future.


Susan Jones, Professor of Mathematics, 615-353-3338
Dr. Susan Jones has been teaching mathematics at NSCC for many years. She currently serves as the Coordinator for Mathematics and Developmental Mathematics. Her credentials include bachelor's and master's degrees in mathematics, an Ed.D. in Education, and 18 graduate hours in statistics. Music and statistical consulting provide additional professional and recreational activities. She is married with two grown children who are married and have their own careers.


Chris King, 615.353.3389
Chris King has been teaching for several years. Mr. King started of teaching in West Tennessee at Gibson County High School. Shortly after, he moved to Nashville and taught at Hillsboro High School. While at Hillsboro High School, Mr. King became an adjunct instructor at NSCC. After several years of teaching at the high school level and college level, Mr. King decided to make a change to just the college level. During his tenure of teaching at the high school level, he taught a range of courses from algebra to calculus. While teaching at the college level, he has taught courses in mathematics from developmental to calculus.

Mr. King earned his Bachelor degree from University of Tennessee at Martin in Mathematics and Education. He earned his Master degree from Middle Tennessee State University in Industrial Mathematics. Some of his hobbies include traveling, reading, and cooking.


Linda Marable, 615·353·3377 website
Linda Marable received her Batchelors of Arts degree in mathematics from David Lipscomb College, her Master of Arts degree in mathematics from Vanderbilt University, and her doctoral degree in curriculum and instruction from Tennessee State University. She has taught mathematics classes at Vanderbilt University while a graduate student, Belmont University, Tennessee State University, and Free Will Baptist Bible College. She also taught as an adjunct instructor at Nashville State for fourteen years before becoming a fulltime instructor in fall of 1987.

Dr. Marable enjoys teaching, traveling, and reading. She is married and has three children and one grandchild. All of her children have all completed their college degrees


Eli Nettles, 615·353·3253
Eli Nettles earned her M.S. and Ph.D in mathematics from The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  Prior to that, she received her B.S. in mathematics from the University of Kentucky in Lexington.  Before coming to NSCC, she lived in Yellow Springs, Ohio.  She taught math at Antioch College, a small, liberal arts school which had a strong emphasis on teaching to a wide variety of learning styles in order to promote greater student success in the classroom.

Jim Pack is an Associate Professor of Mathematics. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) from Middle Tennessee University with a Mathematics Major, as well as a Master of Science (M.S.) from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale with Mathematics Major. His interests include Gardening, wood working, grandchildren, and psychology of human development and learning.


Derek Smith, 615·353·3025 website
Derek Smith is an Assistant Professor in Mathematics, achieved Tenure at NSCC and came to NSCC in 2000. Derek Smith serves on the following committees: Phi Theta Kappa Advisor, Faculty Senate, Environmental Concerns Committee, Calculus Discipline Committee. His hobbies include playing tennis and softball.


Michelle Van Wagoner, 615.353.3278
Michelle Van Wagoner earned an Associate of Arts from Weber State University in Ogden, Utah. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Memphis and a Master of Science in Mathematics from Texas State University – San Marcos. Ms. Van Wagoner joined the NSCC faculty in the fall of 2008. She previously taught at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas and Blinn College in Brenham, Texas..


Christina Weston, Instructor, 615. 353. 3495
Christina Weston has been with NSCC since 2005. She first began her career in the math and sciences as a NASA engineer from 1991 - 1993. She has a BBA from Belmont University and is currently finishing a Master's in both Math and Biology from St. Joseph's College in Connecticut and Tennessee State University. She has taught as a Developmental Math Instructor and as a tutor in College Algebra and Calculus as well as Chemistry, Biology and Physics in the NSCC Learning Center. Christina enjoys hiking, camping, wakeboarding and all things outdoors, especially equestrian sports at her horse farm outside of Bellevue, TN.


Jack Williams, 615-353-3452
Jack L. Williams is an Associate Professor of Mathematics at Nashville State Technical Community College.  He has taught Mathematics, Industrial Engineering and Quality courses at Nashville Tech, Tennessee State, the University of Tennessee and Motlow State.  Jack also has worked as an Engineer with more than 40 companies during his 35 year work career.

Jack has served as an officer with the Institute of Industrial Engineers and The American Society for Quality.
