It is important that A.S./A.A. students take courses that will count toward the baccalaureate degree at the transfer institution. Talking with the Nashville State advisor is an important step in scheduling the right courses.

The A.S. and A.A. degrees are designed for students who intend to transfer and complete a baccalaureate degree after graduation from Nashville State. If the intended transfer baccalaureate institution is known, the student should obtain a catalog from that institution and follow its requirements. If the intended transfer institution is not known, the Nashville State courses listed below are recommended. If the transfer institution is a Tennessee Board of Regents University, then the General Education core requirements listed below will meet the university’s general education core requirements.

Our College Math Program is part of the A.A./A.S. University Parallel degrees offered at NSCC. Students complete 41 credit hours in the General Education Core Curriculum and an additional 19 hours associated with the student’s area of emphasis. For those students interested in pursuing a degree in the college math field, we recommend the following courses as part of the 19 elective hours.

The following program of study for students who plan on transferring to Middle Tennessee State University, Tennessee State University, Austin Peay State University, University of Memphis, Tennessee Technological University of East Tennessee State University is intended to be used as a guideline and is based on the best available information. It is the responsibility of students wishing to transfer to contact the Mathematics Department at the receiving university to verify transferability of the courses. If you plan on majoring in Mathematics at the university, select 19 hours from the list below:

MATH 1920 Calculus & Analytic Geom II 4 Hours
MATH 2110 Calculus & Analytic Geom III 4 Hours

The following course definitely transfers to some universities and may transfer to some other universities. It is strongly recommended that students verify transferability with the receiving university.
