Checklist

The Associate of Science or Associate of Arts (AA or AS) Degree with an Emphasis in Physical Education requires 41 hours of general education and 19 hours in physical education related courses, totaling 60 hours. This degree is designed for students planning to earn a baccalaureate degree at a four-year college or university.  To become licensed as a teacher in public schools in the state of Tennessee, students must complete a four year degree and complete a teacher education program. 

The Physical Education Program offers activity and lecture based courses that will contribute to fitness and skill development as well as courses providing an understanding of concepts, principles and practices related to the Health and Wellness fields.  This degree will provide an opportunity to earn an Associate of Science Degree in preparation to earning a Baccalaureate Degree from a four-year institution.   Attaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education will allow a graduate to enter various fields related to physical education, wellness management, and recreational activities.
