Progress Plan
The Nashville State Community College Surgical Technology Program is a 32-hour Certificate program. It consists of five didactic courses (Medical Terminology, Microbiology for Surgical Technology, Basic Anatomy
and Physiology, Chemistry and Pharmacology for Surgical Technology, and Introduction to Surgical Technology ), two skills classes (Basic Skills and Advanced Skills), and two courses that provide the student with clinical experience (Introduction to Clinical Experience, and Clinical Experience for Surgical Technology).
The program is offered beginning at two different times per year; one begins in the spring and one begins in the fall.

The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), and students receiving a certificate will be eligible to sit for the Surgical Technologists Certifying Exam to receive certification from the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST).
