Advising Sheet

Web Page Authoring is a fast-growing career segment. This comprehensive certificate program offers students an opportunity to develop skills necessary for an entry-level job in Web Page Authoring. It requires 24 credit hours, and is considered a non-degree, one-year program.

Students are introduced to the variety of skills necessary to create content, graphics and structure for web pages. This includes the use of HTML and CSS for web page formatting and layout, and to principles of professional design such as orientation, navigation, usability and accessibility. Students also learn how to properly create web graphics, how to write content for web delivery, and learn about copyright and other relevant legal issues.

This program is designed so that students will be able to take all of the required courses via the web. All students should have web access and be capable of configuring their computers for online courses. Students should be familiar with basic computer processes such as creating and saving documents. A few of the courses may require the student to own specific applications, such as Photoshop™ or Dreamweaver™. Some of the courses are also offered onsite (in a classroom).
