TVA Presents Check to Nashville State Community
College Foundation

Nashville State Community College (NSCC) Foundation is the recipient of a $4500 grant from the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) Corporate Contributions Program. The donation will allow the college to purchase the InterWriter Personal Response System (PRS) which will help students and teachers enhance classroom productivity at NSCC. Students can take quizzes and test by using a numeric keypad. The PRS will generate an instant response that will allow instructors to immediately assess if students understand the material being presented and adapt their lessons as needed.

TVA’s Corporate Contributions Program supports public education that emphasizes learning activities associated with energy and environmental education as well as vocational and technical education in skill areas that are vital to TVA’s workforce.  TVA’s objective is to support institutions that educate and train individuals with the skills TVA will need in the future, and the skills that industries being recruited into the Tennessee Valley Region will need.

TVA and NSCC both agree that this grant will benefit both the business and education communities. “TVA is glad to be able to support the local community and strengthen our partnership with Nashville State Community College,” said Gallatin Fossil Plant Manager Dennis Spencer.  “We are donating funds for the purchase of software that will help students enhance their classroom productivity.”

On Wednesday, November 24, TVA presented the check to Jill Johnson, Executive Director of the NSCC Foundation. Additional college officials attending the presentation were Kevin Poster, Director of Computer Services. The presentation took place at TVA’s Gallatin Fossil Plant located at 1499 Steam Plant Rd.
