Greetings!

To better serve faculty and staff in the coming year the Grants Office has clarified our mission statement, goals, and objectives for 2006/2007. A major portion of this work has been to establish challenging, yet attainable, benchmarks that will have long-lasting, positive results. To this end the Grants Office has developed and created objectives and goals that must be met by this office to assist NSCC in achieving its mission and receiving a larger portion of grant funding from a greater variety of resources.

The Grants Office goals and objectives are featured under the SACS/Institutional Effectiveness link at: http://www.nscc.edu/sacs/ (For those who may be interested in viewing, please look at the pull down menu for "Grants Office" and for the year 2006/2007)

We are happy to announce that two new In-Service Training Days are currently being scheduled featuring experienced Grants Program Officers from other organizations, Community Colleges, and Universities. These guest speakers will illustrate from personal experience how utilizing and maximizing grant opportunities has benefited their organizations in ways that otherwise would not have been possible. We hope you will be able to attend one (or both) of these short programs as your schedule permits.

Shortly, you will be receiving a notice that highlights new grant opportunities, including upcoming deadlines, with special links for newly discovered grant resources. One such grant might just be the exact thing that meets your desires, needs and/or objectives for your department or classroom. With the SACS accreditation process and the Banner implementation well underway this year, and the new building on the drawing board, the months ahead promise to be filled with both new opportunities and new accomplishments.

We look forward to an exciting year of working with faculty and staff to assist you developing new programs and expanding and improving existing projects in 2007.
