Nashville State Community College is a great place to start your college experience.  To become a student just follow the simple steps that follow. When you have completed all requirements for being admitted to the College, the Office of Admissions will give you clearance to register for classes. Registration information is located under the “New  Students” heading.

Step 1.  Submit an application for admission. 

Complete all requested information on the application and submit the application to the Office of Admissions.  You may submit the application online, by mail, or drop by the Office of Admissions, which is located in the Student Services Building, 120 White Bridge Road, Nashville, TN 37209.

As part of the application process, you'll need your "A" number. You'll be able to generate a password upon your first visit to myNSCC. For future reference, please write these numbers down and keep them confidential. You will use these numbers every semester you are enrolled at NSCC.

Apply Online Here - complete all requested information. Carefully read the information that accompanies each screen. When you have completed the application form, you will receive confirmation that the college has received your application.

Step 2.  Submit transcripts to the College. 

To attend NSCC you must meet any of the following standards:

  • You must have graduated from a state approved high school, home school, or receive a GED high school equivalency diploma. 
  • Transcripts must be “official” copies and should be requested from your high school guidance counselor or principal.  All “official” transcripts should be mailed directly, from the high school guidance counselor or principal, directly to Nashville State Community College, Office of Admissions. 
  • Students with a GED should have “official” GED scores mailed directly to the college. 
  • Transcripts from independent home school students must be accompanied by certification of registration with the superintendent of the local education agency that the student would have otherwise attended. 
  • You must submit all necessary college transcripts.

Step 3.  Submit immunization forms. 

If you are a full-time student born after 1956, you must show proof of Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR).  Students must also complete the Hepatitis B Immunization form. 

If you are a Tennessee graduate from 1999 - present, proof of immunization is not required.

Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) - A physician must sign the form indicating you have had appropriate inoculations.

Step 4.  Submit ACT and/or take placement/assessment test, if necessary.

If you are under 21 years of age and have not completed a college level English or mathematics class at another college with a grade of “C” or better, you must submit “official” copies of you ACT or SAT scores.  Admissions will inform you if you need to take any required placement/assessment tests.

If you are 21 years of age or older and have not completed a college level English or mathematics class at another college with a grade of “C” or better, you must take the placement assessment test. 

If you hold the GED, you must also take the placement/assessment test.

Step 5. Submit selective service form.

You must show proof of Selective Service registration if you are a male student between the ages of 18 and 26.
