Nashville State Community College is a state-supported college and, therefore, provides you with a cost-effective way to attend college. Tuition and fees at Nashville State average to be about half the cost of public universities. If you need assistance and meet the required qualifications, options include deferred payment, financial aid, and scholarships.

Tuition and maintenance fees are set each year on July 1st by the Tennessee Board of Regents. You are charged fees each semester and payable by the semester, since each semester is a separate unit of operation. Dates are posted in the Semester Schedule of Classes and on the Nashville State Community College Web site. If you do not pay your fees by these posted deadlines, you will be dropped from your classes and you will have to register again.

Deferred Payment Plan
Nashville State Community College has a deferred payment program for students for students owing a balance greater than $250. You must sign a deferred payment contract if you choose to pay your fees in this manner.

Financial Aid
A variety of federal, state, and local financial aid programs are available to qualified students who might otherwise find it difficult or impossible to attend Nashville State Community College. Fair and equal consideration is given to applicants without regard to race, color, sex, national origin, religion, age or disability. If you interested in financial assistance, you are encouraged to obtain a copy of The Student Guide from the Financial Aid Office. This free federal publication provides an excellent overview of federal programs and eligibility requirements.
If you wish to be considered for federal/state financial aid assistance, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You may submit a FAFSA application through the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Doing so will reduce processing time by 7 to 14 days. When submitted on the Web, the FAFSA application is automatically edited, thus reducing mistakes. When completing Step 6 of the FAFSA, you should include NSCC as a recipient of your information. Scholarships
You might consider applying for a scholarship for financial assistance. Several scholarships are awarded every year based on a variety of criteria. Students who qualify receive scholarships based on merit, residency, major, demographics, and need. The number of awards given out each year is contingent upon funding. The Nashville State Community College Foundation also awards scholarships that are made possible by contributions from Nashville State faculty and staff, area businesses and corporations, private foundations, individual friends of the college, and Nashville State Community College Foundation Trustees.
