If you primarily interested in a technical or career-oriented degree, the Associate of Applied Science degree programs are designed for you. If you anticipate transferring to a university, you should pursue the Associate of Science or Associate of Arts University Parallel degrees. 

If you plan on transferring to a TBR university (MTSU, APSU, TSU, ETSU, UM, or TTU) you must complete 41 semester hours of General Education Courses plus another 19 hours in your area of emphasis for a total of 60 hours for the Associate’s degree.  If you plan on pursuing the Associate of Arts degree, you must complete 2 semesters of a foreign language.  Students transferring to other universities should check with an advisor at the university you intend to transfer for general education requirements.

NSCC offers several technical and career advancement certificates which may be completed in one year.  These certificates provide students technical and career skills needed to enter the job market quickly.

Online Programs

If you can’t come to campus to take classes, don’t worry. Nashville State offers a variety of online courses as well online Associate’s degrees and Technical and Career Advancement Certificates. The Tennessee Board of Regents offers Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees and Bachelor’s degrees. If you aren’t looking for a specific program, you might want to view the list of all available online courses. More than 100 courses are currently available online.
