NSCC STUDENTS AT COOKEVILLE HIGHER EDUCATION CAMPUS: Classes meeting before 9:30 AM are cancelled and the campuses are closed until 9:30 AM Tuesday. Faculty will be posting information for their students. Students should check NS Online through myNSCC for course assignments. If you have questions, please contact your instructor.
NSCC STAFF AT COOKEVILLE HIGHER EDUCATION CAMPUS should not report to work until 9:30 AM Tuesday.

Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs

Position Description

Nashville State Community College is seeking to fill the vacancy of Vice President. The vacancy has been created by a retirement. The Vice President reports directly to the President and serves as the college’s COO, overseeing the areas of Academic Affairs and Student Services. Nashville State is a multi-campus institution, enrolling about 10,000 students. The college has experienced significant growth over the last decade and projects more with the opening of two new off-campus sites.

Position Standards

  • An earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution of higher education required
  • Successful full-time post-secondary teaching experience or comparable experience in student services required
  • A minimum of five years of successful administrative experience at the department head level or above in an institution of higher education required

Culinary Adjunct - Special Diets - Southeast Campus

Part-Time Adjunct Instructor Position: The Special Diets Instructor for Culinary Arts will teach courses in the Culinary Arts Program with a primary focus on Special Diets and Nutrition. The successful applicant will be expected to provide instruction for a variety of courses in the principles and techniques of food preparation, food management, food production services, restaurant management, related technologies and other assigned courses in the Culinary Arts Program depending on the applicant’s experience and background and on institutional needs.

Other duties include maintaining currency in the discipline, developing and revising curriculum, using computer and multi-media technology as appropriate, using varied teaching methodologies, and actively participating in other departmental, college, and discipline-related activities. This assignment will be taught on Nashville State Community College campuses or other instructional sites, day or evening classes, weekend classes, large-sized classes, and distance learning classes, as needed.

Education and Experience—Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a credential, which authorizes the teaching of Special Diets, Nutrition, Dietetics and Culinary Arts classes at the community college level;
  • OR – Master’s degree in Food Service Management, Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Home Economics/Family and Consumer Studies with a specialization in Dietetics or Nutrition;
  • OR – Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND Master’s degree in Hospitality Management;
  • OR – Any Bachelor’s degree AND two years work experience in the Food Service Industry or Healthcare industry;
  • OR – Any Associate degree AND six years work experience in the Food Service Industry or Healthcare;
  • OR – The equivalent. Certain combinations of education, experience, and other accomplishments in the field may be judged as equal to the stated minimum qualifications for these positions. Candidates who feel they possess such equivalent qualifications must request and submit an APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCE form. Supporting documents must be included with the completed form;
  • AND – A demonstrated sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
