Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs

Position Description

Nashville State Community College is seeking to fill the vacancy of Vice President. The vacancy has been created by a retirement. The Vice President reports directly to the President and serves as the college’s COO, overseeing the areas of Academic Affairs and Student Services. Nashville State is a multi-campus institution, enrolling about 10,000 students. The college has experienced significant growth over the last decade and projects more with the opening of two new off-campus sites.

Position Standards

    A. An earned doctorate required

    B. Successful full-time post-secondary teaching experience or comparable experience in student services required
    C. A minimum of five years of successful administrative experience at the department head level or above in an institution of higher education required

Criminal Justice Instructor - Southeast Campus

Bachelor’s degree with a major in Criminal Justice and three years’ professional experience or an Associate’s degree in a Criminal Justice field with seven years’ professional experience required.

All faculty positions require computer literacy, the ability to use technology in the classroom, and proficiency in oral/written English. Duties include, but are not limited to, day/evening classes, on/off campus teaching, online teaching, curriculum development, advising students, and other responsibilities as assigned. College teaching experience is preferred. A classroom presentation on an assigned topic will be required for all candidates interviewed.

Adjunct Faculty - Cookeville Campus

Part-time instructors needed to teach in the following disciplines:

  • Chemistry: Part-time instructors needed to teach chemistry. Master’s degree in chemistry or related discipline with 18 graduate hours in chemistry required.
  • Economics: Part-time instructors needed to teach economics. Master’s degree in economics or related discipline with 18 graduate hours in economics required.
  • Physics: Part-time instructors needed to teach physics. Master’s degree in physics or related discipline with 18 graduate hours in physics required.

Secretary II - Southeast Campus

Includes multiple responsibilities, including front-line customer service with needed ability to express ideas clearly and concisely. Must be able to perform a variety of clerical tasks. A high school diploma or equivalent, proficiency in business English and math, and excellent computer skills are required.

Testing Technician I

 
Hours of Work

~ Monday–Thursday: 10:30 AM–7:30 PM
~ Saturday: 8:30 AM–2:00 PM

High school diploma or educational equivalent and at least one year of work experience in clerical and/or testing field are required. Good customer service skills preferred. Executes and supports requirements for administering tests.
