Kappa Beta Delta is a national honor society which was established in
1997 at the annual conference of the ACBSP to recognize students in accredited
associate degree-granting institutions for their high academic achievement
in business programs.
As the result of an agreement between the Federation of Business Honor
Societies, through which Kappa Beta Delta was established, all current
and future ACBSP accredited associate degree-granting institutions are
exclusively eligible to establish chapters.
This Honor Society was established to encourage and reward scholarship
and accomplishment among students of business, management, administration,
and other business programs who are pursuing associate degrees in ACBSP-accredited
two-year colleges, to encourage and promote personal and professional
improvement, and a life distinguished by honorable service to humankind.
Students are eligible to be invited to lifetime membership based upon
the following criteria: rank in the upper 20% of students pursuing business
degrees at the time of invitation to membership; must have completed a
minimum of 15 semester hours of credit, of which a minimum of six semester/quarter
hours are in business subjects toward the degree program; and have a minimum
grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Transfer students who meet
the qualifications for membership may be inducted after they have completed
a minimum of one term of work in the department, division, or school of
business in which the chapter is located provided their overall record,
in the judgment of the collegiate chapter, is of Kappa Beta Delta caliber.
This newly-established Honor Society, in addition to providing public
recognition to business students who have distinguished themselves in
Associate Degree business programs, may provide numerous other benefits
to its membership, including a biennial conference, held in conjunction
with the ACBSP annual conference, financial assistance to chapters, and
scholarships to students based upon scholarship, leadership, character,
motivation, need, and potential.
A Kappa Beta Delta chapter is one of the rewards of ACBSP accreditation
and provides a means by which an institution may give lifetime national
recognition to its outstanding graduates. Additional information may be
