All students are required to complete an “Admissions Application” and submit to the Admissions department at NSCC. Once you have been cleared by the Admissions department, you may actually register for a video class. You may print a copy of the NSCC application below and mail or drop off at the nearest NSCC location.

How do I take a video course?
Video courses have the same costs, rules and regulations, timetables, and transferability, as a traditional on-campus course.
In general, videos are not the instructor standing at the board conducting a lecture. The videos encompass a series of “case studies” on a given subject. The student will be issued a set of videotapes at the beginning of the semester. The videotapes will cover the entire semester’s work. The student is required to read the text and study guides and view corresponding video case studies. The case studies are meant to supplement your textbook readings. The student will follow the instructor’s syllabus and will turn in the required work or take the required test at the Testing Center (main campus), or off site location where the student is registered. The instructor will grade the assignments and may e-mail or mail your grades to you directly. All sets of videotapes must be returned at the end of each semester.

How do I contact my Instructor and find my course materials?
Directly underneath the link for the video orientation, you will find a link to a listing of instructors for the current semester’s courses. Each student is required to complete the next three tasks:
1.) Login to your instructor’s assigned web address. Links can be found on the NSCC website under the video orientation link or in the current semester’s schedule under video courses.
2.) Complete the online student information form located in your instructor’s website. Please be sure to hit the submit button at the bottom of the form. This lets the instructor know you have registered for their course. You are not registered for a course until you do this.
3.) Print a copy of your course syllabus, which is also located inside your instructor’s website. The syllabus will be available during the first day of classes. It is the student’s responsibility to verify that the instructor has your correct e-mail address, phone number, and all necessary contact information. Caution: Be sure to save and print the syllabus for the semester you have enrolled.
The Distance Learning student who does not make contact for two consecutive weeks with the instructor or who violates the instructor’s stated communication policy will be administratively withdrawn from the course and given a grade of "WF” Withdraw Failure. A “WF” is calculated negatively into the student’s Grade Point Average.

How do I pick up my videotapes?
To pick up your videotapes, you must bring a copy of your paid receipt, beginning a month before the semester in which you have enrolled, to the Library Circulation desk located on the main campus in the K bldg. All students who have registered for a course on the main campus must pick up their materials on the main campus.
If you have registered at the Cookeville Center, Humphreys County/Waverly Center, or the Southeast Center, the student must call that site to schedule a pickup time for your videotapes no earlier than a month before the semester in which you have enrolled. You will receive one set of videos for each course you have enrolled in.

How do I take a test in a video course?
In video based courses, instructors will require you to take your tests in a monitored / proctored setting either on the main campus or at an off-site location. Students may only test at the location they have registered for. Students registered at Cookeville, Waverly, or the Southeast Centers must contact that site and schedule an appointment to take tests. It is important that the student contact the centers for scheduled testing times. On campus tests will be taken in the Testing Center located in the Library, which is in the K Building on the main campus. All students are reminded to pay attention to the timelines given on your syllabus by your instructor. All materials have a set due date. If you do not turn in materials and assignments by your instructor’s due date, then the instructor may penalize you.
To test on the main campus, no appointment is necessary. No children under 12 years of age will be allowed in the Testing Center, either on the main campus and at the off-site locations while their parent is taking a test. Testing is also available on the main campus on Saturdays. You must arrive at least 1 hour before the Testing Center closes in order to begin taking a test.
