Student Photo ID
Student identification cards (Photo ID) display a photo and name of student cardholder and are valid as long as the student is actively enrolled in classes. The Photo ID cards are used for library privileges, admittance to some college-sponsored activities, student elections, and other college services.
Not Mandatory, but Recommended
Although having a Photo ID is not mandatory, students and employees are encouraged to obtain a card during their first semester.
Cost for Photo ID
The initial Photo ID card will be issued free of charge. There will be a $10 replacement fee assessed for cards that are lost, damaged, stolen, or those that require a name change.
Replacement fees must be paid at the Bursar’s Office (Student Services Center, Room S-203). Please present the receipt to the Photo ID Technician at the time of replacement Photo ID processing.
Steps to Receive a Photo ID
To receive a Photo ID the student must provide one of the following items and their current enrollment status will be verified:
- A driver’s license with a photograph
- A valid State of Tennessee photo ID
- An original birth certificate
- A passport
To update the Photo ID card to include subsequent enrollments, the student must present the Photo ID card and their current enrollment status will be verified.

The details: Students, Faculty and Staff are NOT required to obtain a Photo ID, but encouraged to do so in their first semester. Financial Aid students who wish to take advantage of the Book Voucher program through their financial aid MUST present an NSCC photo ID in the bookstore to purchase books. You can also use the Photo ID in the Library and Testing Center.

Free, the first time
The first Photo ID is printed free of charge. A fee of $10.00 will be assessed for any subsequent Photo ID due to loss, damage or name change. All fees must be paid at the Bursar’s office and receipt must be presented upon receiving another Photo ID.

- How long are the Photo IDs valid?
As long as you are enrolled
Your Photo ID will be valid as long as you are enrolled in classes at NSCC. You are not required to take another Photo ID unless you are not a student for longer than a one-year period.
- What are the uses for my Photo ID?
Identification and student discounts
Your Photo ID has many benefits including, but not limited to, use as proof of identification for Book Vouchers in the NSCC bookstore, checking out a book in the Library, an identification to take a test in the Testing Center, entry to Student Life or NSCC-hosted events and student discounts at various retail stores, movie theaters, etc.
- How do I use my Photo ID at the Library?
Present it when checking out
When checking out a book at the NSCC Library, simply present your Photo ID card to the Librarian. The barcode on your card will be scanned and you will find out when the book is due back.
(a) The intuition's name will be prominently displayed on the card in addition to NSCC’s logo
(b) The art work must be supplied to NSCC for approval
(c) The sponsoring department must supply a list of eligible individuals
(d) The sponsoring department must supply card stock for IDs
