Challenge Test Information
Students attempting to challenge out of a DSPR, DSPW, or DSPM classes may take a CHALLENGE TEST.
College Prep Writing (DSPW)
Basic and Developmental Writing (DSPW 0700 and DSPW 0800)
College Prep Reading (DSPR)
Basic and Developmental Reading (DSPR 0700 and DSPR 0800):
On the NSCC main campus, Challenge Testing for DSPW and DSPR classes is on the first day of your class(es). Students who enroll after the first class period are not eligible to take the test. For more information, please call or email Susan Tucker at 615-353-3531 or susan.tucker@nscc.edu. Only students who are taking the course for the first time are eligible to challenge their course placements. There is no charge to take the writing challenge tests.

College Prep Mathematics (DSPM)
Basic and Developmental Math (DSPM 0700, DSPM 0800, DSPM 0850):
Instructions for the DSPM challenge test can be accessed on the DSPM Web site: ww2.nscc.edu/dspm
Flyers with the instructions are also available in the Mathmatics and Sciences Division, Suite K-240, in the Jane G. Kisber Memorial Lebrary Building on the Main Campus.
Students at the White Bridge Road campus who wish to challenge must see Dr. Susan Jones (K-220, 615-353-3338) for clearance before challenging placement by taking the Compass Test. A permission form signed by Dr. Jones will be required by the Testing Center before the test can be taken.

Students must have written permission from the Developmental Math coordinator to challenge a math course if they have already enrolled in the class.
