Michigan Plus Test Dates

All NEW students who do not have English as their first/home language MUST take the Michigan Test before registering for classes. The test is FREE to students. It is designed to evaluate the English proficiency of non-native English speakers.

The test takes approximately two hours and is made up of five sections: speaking, listening, grammar, reading and writing. The speaking section is a short oral interview with the test administrator. The listening, grammar, and reading sections are a standardized multiple-choice test. There are three topics to choose from for the writing portion.

• You must submit your NSCC application for admission BEFORE taking the Michigan Test.
• You must bring a photo ID and your student ID number (assigned when you submit your application for admission to the Admissions office).
• Please arrive 10 minutes early.

Tests are held in the Student Services Center on the main campus
(120 White Bridge Road, 37209 - Map) OR at the Southeast Campus
(5248 Hickory Hollow Pkwy, 37013 - Map).

Students may take the Michigan test at either campus regardless of which campus they will attend classes. Check the location of the test below.
