Distance Education
Distance Learning is the acquisition of knowledge and skills through mediated information and instruction, encompassing all technologies and other forms of learning at a distance, according to the United States Distance Learning Association. The majority of the instruction occurs at a distance when instructor and student are not sharing the same space. While maintaining the quality of the on-campus offerings, distance education courses provide convenience and flexibility to students as they pursue their educational goals.

Distance Education delivery modes at Nashville State continue to expand. Currently NSCC offers Web and Web hybrid courses. These modes are suited for individuals who are unable to travel back and forth to campus on a weekly basis or whose work schedules do not fit the regular schedule of class times.

Both degree and certificate programs as well as general education courses are available through distance education. These courses are listed on the Web site, www.nscc.edu, or can be found in the latest class schedule. Students enrolled in Web-based courses are provided with an Online Web Orientation that explains the Distance Education learning process. On-ground Orientation sessions are available at the beginning of each semester.
