Entrepreneurship Technical Certificate

The Entrepreneurship Technical Certificate is designed to educate, encourage, and support students in understanding how to successfully start and operate new business ventures. The experience offers students the opportunity to focus on various entrepreneurial aspects of business. The certificate addresses the areas of planning, managing, marketing, accounting, and supervising and provides students with a basis to enter the small business environment.

“In today's world, a real change is happening. The Fortune 500 companies have actually reduced the number of their employees. Smaller, more dynamic companies have provided most of the new jobs in the U.S. economy during the last 15 years:

Several years ago, 1 in 4 graduates of business schools went to work for a Fortune 500 company. Recently, only 1 in 11 graduates went to work for a large corporation.
Nine out of ten graduates express the desire to want to work for themselves — to run their own company within ten years of graduation.
There are over 21 million small firms in America today generating more than 57 percent of all sales, and nearly one-half of the domestic private sector output.

The key word in this trend is “entrepreneurship.” Entrepreneurs can be found in companies of all sizes. Entrepreneurs are the leaders of change. They develop and market new products and invent new processes for production. They think change. Whether in smaller, fast growing companies or in larger companies that must change to meet competition, they are influential.”
