The A.A.S. degree in General Technology offers the structure and flexibility to facilitate the design of programs that not only meet the career goals of students, but also allows partnerships with the Tennessee Technology Centers (TTC) and other institutions of post-secondary education. All courses required for technical certificates and career advancement certificates (earned with college-level coursework) offered at NSCC are applicable to the degree in General Technology. Specific certificates that feed to this A.A.S. degree include (but are not limited to):
Computer-Aided Drafting
Horticulture
Industrial Automation
Industrial Electrical Maintenance
Music Technology
Surgical Technology
Web-Page Authoring.

Articulation agreements include one that allows the awarding of 30 hours credit for diplomas earned at the TTC to count toward the General Technology degree. Another articulation agreement with Nashville General Hospital allows 45 hours of transfer credit for the Radiologic Technology Program toward the degree in General Technology. A plan with a focus in health sciences is also available.

GENERAL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM MISSION
The mission for the degree in General Technology at NSCC is to provide a degree that: successfully trains students for employability in their chosen focus allows customization of the degree plan in response to rapidly changing technology allows the flexibility to customize a program toward the interests of the student provides an avenue for students to include credit for approved training programs as well as credit for applicable work experience. (Note: students applying for credit from work experience or training programs must supply adequate documentation as designated by the related division. The awarding of credit occurs after a careful evaluation of the documentation.) offers exposure to a variety of technologies to students pursuing the technology concentration offers a solid business base to students pursuing the business concentration.
