Vehicle Registration & Parking Decals
1. All privately owned and/or operated vehicles for use on campus by students and faculty/staff must be registered in the Security Office (Room A-70A) and must bear an official registration decal for which there is an annual charge of $10. Faculty/staff are required to pay sales tax on the decal purchased. Vehicles include motorcycles, motorbikes, scooters, pick-up trucks, vans and jeeps as well as automobiles. Large trucks and trailers are prohibited.
2. Parking decals are valid from the first day of the fall semester registration until the first day of fall semester classes the next school year. Decals may be obtained registration day on the registration line or at the Security Office (Room A-70A), after this date. DO NOT AFFIX YOUR DECAL TO YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL YOU ARE CERTAIN THE CLASS YOU SIGNED UP FOR HAS MADE.
3. Fees for decals will be paid at the Business Office during operating hours.
4. Warning citations will be issued for the first ten days after registration. Regular citations will be issued after the grace period has ended. Exception: special courses students who register after the first week of the semester will receive decals at the time of registration.
5. Students beginning at semesters other then fall may obtain parking decals on registration day on the registration line or at the Security Office (Room A-70A), after this date.
6. License plate number and driver license number must be given prior to issuance of decal.
7. No student will be permitted to register another students vehicle without the approval of the security officer on duty.
8. The vehicle registration decal must be displayed on a vehicle by the owner or driver in such a manner that it will be clearly visible from the rear of the vehicle. Decals will be displayed on motorcycles, motor bikes, and scooters in the same manner in a position that can be clearly read by security personnel.
9. Special parking areas are provided for disabled students. Disabled parking is governed
by the laws of the State of TN. Handicapped parking is enforced 24 hours a day,
everyday.
PENALTIES
1. The fines for traffic and parking violations is $10.00 for each violation except for disabled parking violations which is a $100.00 fine.
2. The fine for violations must be paid to the Business Office. The Business Office will be open Monday through Thursday from 8:15 am to 6:30 pm and Friday 8:15 am to 4:30 pm.
3. Payment of any outstanding fines shall be prerequisite to completing registration for any semester. If an employee's fine is not paid by the close of the semester, the employee will receive an official reprimand from the appropriate administrator.
4. Any car, motorcycle, motor scooter, pickup truck, or van parking in a no parking zone, fire lane, disabled space, or parking in zones other than one designated for their classification, etc. may be towed away at the owner's expense without notice.
5. Individuals who receive five (5) or more traffic and parking citations may be towed and barred from parking on Nashville State's campus.
APPEALS OF CITATIONS
Appeals must be made within 72 hours after the ticket is issued. Appeal forms are available at the Security Office, A-70-A, and in the Student Services Center. Appeal forms should be completed legibly with a copy of the citation attached. Citation appeals should be turned back in to the security office. A ruling will be made to DISMISS or SUSTAIN the citation and the result will be mailed back to the student within 5-7 business days.

Q: Can I use tape to attach my decal from the inside of my window?
A: Yes, as long as the decal and number are viewable from the rear window.
Q: Where do I pay my ticket?
A: You can only pay for tickets at the business office.
Q: I got a ticket and I disagree, what can I do about it?
A: Pick up an appeal form at the security office, fill it out and take it to the dean. The security office cannot void tickets.
Q: I bought a new car. Do I have to buy a new decal?
A: Yes. There is an exception if you have your decal taped in the back window. You may come by the security office and fill out a new card and we will be happy to switch them out for you.
Q: Do I need additional decals if I drive multiple vehicles?
A: Yes, you will have to purchase a decal for each vehicle you park on campus on a regular basis. You can't register multiple vehicles under one decal.
Q: How much do additional decals cost?
A: Each decal costs $10.00.
Q: I have to drive a different car for a few days, what do I do?
A: Stop by the security office and ask for a free temporary decal.
