What are the benefits of having a peer mentor?

Peer Mentors are helpful resources that can assist with:

  • Navigating campus and community resources
  • Adapting to college life
  • Connecting with your academic advisor
  • Registering for classes
  • Time management
  • Stress management
  • And much more!

Who can request a mentor?

Any freshman who has declared a major and has earned less than 15 credit hours is eligible to apply to participate in peer mentoring.

*Peer mentoring is currently only offered at the Main Campus on White Bridge Road.

Will everyone who applies be assigned a mentor?

Peer Mentoring has limited space so applications will be considered on the following factors:

  • Priority placement for students who are African American
  • Priority placement for students receiving access services
  • All other students will be entered into a lottery for placement

How do I know if I have been assigned a mentor?

Check your Email!

  • All applicants will receive email notification of their acceptance/denial to the program
  • Accepted applicants will need to set up an initial meeting with their mentor in order to establish goals and a communication plan
