Nashville State Community College Announces 55th Annual Graduation Ceremony

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 1, 2019) – The 55th Annual Nashville State Community College Graduation Ceremony will take place at 6:00 pm on Tuesday, May 7th, 2019, at Tennessee State University’s Howard Gentry Center. Over 500 of the nearly 1,500 students who have indicated their intent to graduate will celebrate their accomplishments at this year’s ceremony.

Nashville State is particularly honored to have as keynote speaker of this year’s graduation ceremony Nashville Mayor David Briley, who announced his Nashville GRAD initiative in December, a program to help close equity gaps in retention and graduation for Davidson County students attending Nashville State and TCAT Nashville. The Tennessee Army National Guard Recruiting and Retention Command will conduct a formal presentation of the colors, and former Fisk Jubilee singer and current coordinator of the NSCC Learning Center, Angela Stockdale, will sing the national anthem. Dr. Shanna L. Jackson, who began her official tenure as president in June of 2018, will present graduates with their diplomas.
