Nashville State, NursesMC Nashville Sign Dual Enrollment Agreement

Nashville State Community College and Nurses Middle College Nashville (NursesMC) have entered into a dual enrollment agreement that provides eligible high school students the opportunity to earn both college and high school credit simultaneously.

A signing ceremony was held in a nursing simulation room at Nashville State’s White Bridge campus, followed by a tour of the college’s nursing labs, classrooms, and study spaces.

Under the agreement, eligible students in grades 9 through 12 may participate if they meet Nashville State’s established placement and prerequisite requirements.

Nashville State’s School of Health Sciences offers a nursing program on the White Bridge campus. The program recently expanded to the new Dickson campus at the Dickson Center of Higher Education and the newly expanded and renovated Clarksville campus.

“At a time with critical healthcare staffing shortages, creating pathways and partnerships is more important than ever,” said Dr. Shanna L. Jackson, president of Nashville State. “This agreement helps students begin their college journey earlier while creating a direct pathway into high-demand careers. We are proud to partner with NursesMC to expand opportunities for students and help meet the workforce needs of our region.”

NursesMC Nashville is a public charter high school in Davidson County dedicated to preparing students for careers in nursing and healthcare through rigorous academics, early college opportunities, industry-recognized credentials, work-based learning, and hands-on healthcare experiences.

“This partnership represents exactly what we envisioned when Nurses Middle College Nashville was created. Students should not have to wait until after high school to begin building their futures,” said NursesMC Nashville Executive Director Dr. Andrea Poynter. “Through our partnership with Nashville State, our students can begin earning college credit while still in high school and see a clear pathway from the classroom to college and ultimately into Nashville’s healthcare workforce. We are creating opportunities for students to graduate not only with a diploma, but with college credit, healthcare experience, and a meaningful head start toward their future careers.”
