Nashville State Offers Drone Certification Preparation Programs
Nashville State Community College’s Center for Workforce Development and Continuing Education is offering two drone training courses designed to prepare individuals for commercial and public safety drone operations.
The programs combine classroom instruction with hands-on flight experience using enterprise-level drone technology, preparing participants for real-world applications across multiple industries.
Industries served include public safety, infrastructure inspection, mapping, emergency response, and commercial drone services.

Course 1: FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification Preparation
This course prepares participants for the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) Part 107 Remote Pilot Knowledge Test, required for commercial drone work. It is ideal for those seeking entry into the drone industry or to add drone skills to their profession.
Participants will:
- Gain hands-on drone flight experience.
- Learn FAA-required aeronautical knowledge for the Part 107 exam.
- Practice real-world operational scenarios.
- Earn the TRUST (Recreational UAS Safety Test) certificate.
- Build foundational flight safety and operational skills.
Course 2: NFPA 2400 Certification Course (Public Safety)
This advanced course, for public safety professionals, aligns with NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 2400 and NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) standards. It is ideal for first responders, emergency managers, and law enforcement agencies.
Participants will receive training in:
- Public safety and emergency response drone operations.
- NIST-aligned operational practices.
- Search and rescue and recovery missions.
- Precision payload and material delivery.
- Suspect and vehicle tracking techniques.
- Night operations using thermal imaging technology.
