Nashville State’s School of Arts & Humanities Music A.F.A. program and the Center for Workforce Development & Continuing Education have partnered up to launch Nashville State Roots!

About the Program

Nashville State Roots is a community-centered music program that embraces tunes from the musical traditions of many cultures in the United States and beyond. Our goal is for musicians of all backgrounds to play in community together, nurturing talent, preserving musical traditions, and building connections across generations. By providing affordable instruction and scholarship support, we aim to ensure that music is accessible and thrives in every corner of our community.

Current Offerings

Ensemble: The Nashville State Roots ensemble is open to anyone who plays an instrument traditionally associated with folk music and is aged 12* and older (*for interested students under age 12, please contact music@nscc.edu to inquire about registering). You do not have to be a Nashville State student or employee to be a part of Nashville State Roots.

Upcoming Events

The Music Program at Nashville State presents a variety of events each semester ranging from concerts to workshops with guest artists and more. All events are free and open to the public thanks to the generous support of the Nashville State Community College Foundation through the Music Impact Fund. If you would like to donate to support these events, you may do so at this link.

Unless otherwise noted, all events are held in the H-Building theater at Nashville State Community College.
