What should I do first?

You should fill out an application for admission. Then you should turn in all documents required for admission.

How do I know which documents I need for admissions?

You will receive a letter from the Admissions Office after you submit an application. It will list the documents needed. You can also check the Admissions webpage.

How do I sign up for ESL New Student Orientation?

Complete ESL New Student Orientation.

How can I make an appointment for advising and registration?

First, new students must complete ESL New Student Orientation.

New students should make an appointment for advising and registration.

  1. Click on the link: https://www2.registerblast.com/nsccesltesting/Exam/List
  2. Choose ESL Advising Appointments.
  3. Select a day and time for your ESL advising appointment.

Current students should talk to their ESL advisor for help choosing classes and making a schedule.

How will I take the NSCC English Placement Test?

Tests are by appointment. Tests are online and in-person.

You must have the following to take the NSCC English Placement Test.

  • Photo ID (with your name and picture)
  • Computer or laptop (test cannot be completed on a phone) for online test.
  • Reliable internet for online test. Internet outages could cause an incomplete test.
  • Zoom account and Zoom app on your device for online test.

Important things you must do BEFORE taking the test:

  • Submit your NSCC application for admission.

I want to take classes in the spring (beginning January 17). When can I take the NSCC English Placement Test?

Testing for spring classes is from October 14 – January 9. You will have time to complete the test, be advised, and register for classes.

All required documents for admission must be processed before you can take the test.

How many classes should I take?

We recommend you take only one or two classes if you are working full-time. If you are working part-time, you will be able to handle more classes.

Will I be eligible for Financial Aid?

Financial Aid pays for unlimited ESOL classes if you qualify, and it will pay for up to 30 hours of learning support classes. Check with Financial Aid to apply for assistance.

What should I do if my NSCC English Placement Test scores are below intermediate proficiency (NSCC ESL level 2)?

You will need to continue working on your English by taking classes locally (in the Nashville area).

How do I get my English Placement Test Scores?

Your scores will be sent to your official student email account and your personal email account you listed your application.
