Pre-Screening Application
Program Requirements
To apply for the LPN to RN Pathway Program, you must turn in your application during the official application period. All the steps below must be finished before your application can be reviewed. Each campus may have a different number of open spots.
Your application will be reviewed only if you meet all of the following requirements:
Admission to NSCC
You must already be accepted as a student at Nashville State Community College.
27 Hours of Required Prerequisite Courses
You must complete the required 27 credit hours before applying (see below for course requirements).
ATI‑TEAS Test Score
You must score at least “Proficient.” This requirement is waived if you graduated from TCAT within 3 years of taking the LPN Exit Exam.
GPA Requirement

You must have a GPA of 2.8 or higher.

Only the required 27 credit hours are used to calculate this GPA.
Active PN License
-
You must list your PN license number on the application.

Your license must not have restrictions when checked with the Tennessee Board of Nursing.

*You must earn a C or higher in these courses. It is recommended (but not required) that you take them within the last 5 years.
LPN to RN Pathway students start in the second semester and take:

NURS 1120 – Pharmacology I

NURS 1600 – Transition to Professional Nursing*
*NURS 1600 covers material from Medical‑Surgical Nursing I and parts of Fundamentals of Nursing. After completing NURS 1600, you will receive 13 credit hours for:

NURS 1710 – Fundamentals of Nursing

NURS 1600 – Transition to Professional Practice

NURS 1620 – Medical Surgical Nursing
The remainder of courses follow the traditional nursing course sequence.
